Monet at the Institut français d’Ecosse
May 23, 2012 at 9:30 PM
Another event not to miss at the Institut français d’Ecosse in Edinburgh, Monet et les artistes américains à Giverny (Monet and american artists in Giverny).
Agnès Ness will deliver a talk in French (advanced level) on Wednesday 30 May between 17:30 and 19:00.
In 2007 the Columbus Museum of Art, Ohio and the Musée Marmottan, Paris mounted an exhibition entitled ‘In Monet’s Garden, Artists and the Lure of Giverny’. The talk will look at those American artists who were ’lured’ to Giverny during the period 1885-1914 and consider just what brought them to this small village north of Paris. Agnès will be talking about artists such as Theodore Butler, who married not one but two of Monet’s step-daughters, Theodore Robinson, John Leslie Breck, Lilla Cabot Perry and many others.
Book now by phone at 0131 225 53 66 or come to the Institute at No. 13 Randolph Crescent, Edinburgh EH3, 7TT.
Members: £5/ Non members: £8
