Edinburgh Ski Centres
Skiing in Scotland and the Edinburgh ski centres are great. And here's the proof! You can commute to work in the morning, then drive away from the city after you've finished work (or take the bus) to go skiing, then be back home before 10pm.
Midlothian Snowsports Centre
Range of skiing activities
Whether you are a single person, a couple or a family you can enjoy snowboarding, freestyle, tubing, racing, jumping...
The snowsports centre has 2 main slopes (you can enjoy skiing all year round) and it is also Scotland and Britain's biggest artificial slope with 2 nursery slopes, jump slope and a range of freestyle features; enough to satisfy everyone.
You can of course have private lessons, be a complete beginner or advanced, be a 6 years old (minimum age to participate in an easy ski class) or not that young. Classes vary from snowplough to snowboarding and from freestyle to giant slalom, so quite a wide range on offer.
If you can already ski competently and use the chairlift and tows you can go straight to the slopes. The main slope is 400m long (1,312 ft), the tow slop is 320m long (1,050 ft) and both nursery slopes measure 50m (164 ft). There is a fun slope which is 60m long (196 ft).
Prices
Unsurprisingly, prices vary depending on what you want to do so click the following link to find out about ski prices and equipment hire.
How to get there?
The first thing to remember is that the Snowsports Centre is so close to Edinburgh that you can get there by bus in around 30/40 minutes. See the transport & travel section.
Even if you’re never skied before this is still a great place to go to. The centre is set in the hillside of the stunning Pentland Hills Regional Park and if you love hillwalking, mountain biking or have a keen eye for wildlife then you’re in for a treat.
Opening times
The centre is open 7 days a week, between 09.30 and 21.00 Monday to Friday and between 09.30 and 19.00 at the weekend. There is car park.
