Our Dynamic Earth

Our Dynamic Earth in Edinburgh is a highly successful children's science museum that will delight young children and parents alike.

What to do and what to see?

The journey starts with the time machine, a giant platform that takes visitors down to a lower floor. The 2 minutes journey takes you back in time from modern Earth to the Big Bang.

Scenes show on each side of the platform and offer you to witness the great events that have marked our History going back to the dinosaurs and to a time before the Earth existed.

Be aware that young children may perhaps find the short journey a bit too realistic and loud.

Throughout your visit, you can expect cutting edge technology and state of the art interactive displays. You will fly across glaciers, feel the Earth move beneath your feet and experience the chill of polar ice before walking through a tropical forest. Watch that waterfall!

In a yellow submarine you'll learn about the oceans and see seals swimming under your feet. If after all that you still want more adventures then you can embark on an epic 4D expedition where you can smell, touch and see the adventure in 3D.

Throughout the year you will also witness spectacular 360 degree films in the ShowDome, the only one of its kind in Scotland.

If your child is in primary or secondary school, Our Dynamic Earth is a fantastic place to go to, over and over again. Saying that, don't think that the exhibitions are for children only as the themes have been designed and developped with everybody in mind.
