Opening a Bank Account in Scotland
Whether you are coming to Scotland and Edinburgh to live, work or study, you’ll need to open a bank account sooner rather than later.
You’ll need this for a number of reasons, starting with being paid by your employer and paying bills.
In the banking section you will find out what the rules and the (many) exceptions are before you can open your first bank account.
The process will be more or less easy depending on the type of bank account you want (current bank account, basic bank account, student bank account), whether you already have a job and a permanent address in Scotland when you apply and if you are an EU or non-EU citizen.
You will also find out about which leading banks in Edinburgh (and Scotland) make it easy and straightforward to open a bank account for foreigners.
